Animeme: Hatsune Miku sings in Filipino!?

A holler out for Filipinos out there, we have a local animeme winner here!

Some creative Pinoy under the name of Orochi Herman used the powers of Vocaloid to make Hatsune Miku and other Vocaloid charas sing a number of classic OPM (Original Pilipino Music) songs! If you ask me, Miku has the potential to sing a bit better in Filipino than in English if done well, since our accents are not that much far off of the Japanese. Have a gander and listen!

In any case, this is the first of its kind that I have seen, and hopefully, never the last. Thank you for the awesome work there oherman, and mabuhay ka!!

  1. My Filipino must be getting rusty. I’m starting to not understand much of it anymore (Left at the age of 6). Gotta take a refresher.

  2. Holy crap. I didn’t see this coming.

But I wonder how would Miku fare on the more recent Pinoy songs?

  3. I’m working on a new Vocaloid OPM music. It’s a Miku only piece. (Rin as backup singer) Hello Boy (Boy I Love You) by Donna Cruz.

I’ve vastly improved her Tagalog a lot, though the accent is odd in some places, but is vastly improved now.

    It’ll be released this weekend.

  4. Woah~!! @__@ These are really great! When I heard the ‘pumapatak na naman ang ulan’ vid, i was like.. yay! I love the Parokya ni Edgar version of it, but Miku’s version rocked! xD

  5. @Orochi

Thanks for another solid edit! I added it here. I don’t know that song by heart so I tried not looking at the lyrics, and I still understood the words. Yup you make her Tagalog sound well.

  6. fyi, random, Orochi Herman is the one of those well-known guys in the MUGEN scene and AFAIK, used to run the RO board on wakachan.

  7. Actually I still run them. 😛 And just because I’m working on Vocaloid stuff doesn’t mean I’ve abandoned my other hobbies. My MUGEN site is down right now though, but I’m bringing that back up soon.

Sorry I hadn’t updated the page for a long time. You’re still at this, you’re amazing! I loved the V2 version of Boy, and Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang is very well done! More power to you!

I have bumped this post to the top of the blog again because this belongs to Animeme season 2 which I should launch shortly.

  9. I predict even more crossover excitement when the Megupoid comes out, which packs much Japinay flavor. 😀

    Orochi, bring ’em on! b(^_^)d

  10. haha
    galing a

    xD
    pumapatak nnmn ang ulan~

ibig sabihin sasunod pwede din yung ibang vocaloid..
oo nga nmn kasi japanese ay kaparehas, kung ano basa yan sulat

  11. LOL! That’s crazy XD.

I also noticed some changes in the lyrics from the original “Pumamatak na naman ang Ulan” by APO (where it goes “Radyo, TV, at mga lumang Komiks”).

  12. Wow! I have been struck by inspiration from your impressive vocaloid songs! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas[!?]…

Maybe if other Japanese singers and artists could “really” do covers and remakes of tagalog songs….?

They could replace K-pop in the mainstream. xD
