bluemist anime statistics

It has graphs too!

I was wondering how my recent busy work life affected my anime watching, so I made a graph, which seemed popular a couple of months ago… er…

Don’t worry because this is only my personal dorama hehe.

Since I can’t really quantify the actual number of anime I have watched per year, I just listed which anime I have watched by its year of original broadcast. I also disregarded whether it runs for so many episodes, or whether it’s just a single OVA or movie. I know it’s rather inaccurate but it’s the closest I can get to seeing my watching trend without freaking myself out with all the details. I limited the years to 2000 and above because I probably watched only a few ones earlier than that. Without further ado:

In any case, this gave me a few nice insights. If it were normal time, I can probably handle about a whopping 30 separate anime titles each year. Brain damage if you ask me. But alas, times are now abnormal because of my abrupt expedition (exile?) to Japan. Here things are a LOT busier, I don’t have much time for these stuff.

Also, [bishoujo->summer-of-bishoujo] anime took up around 30-50% of the titles from the year 2003 onwards, which indicates that this is probably my favorite genre. I know that it is not true, because I remain loyal to my [shoujo->nana] fandom, but it shows that there ain’t too much of those recently. In any case, the quality of those few shoujo anime is much greater than all the crap that I watch from the bishoujo genre.

Ok maybe “crap” is too strong a word, because thankfully I’ve been lucky in picking anime to watch. The statistic I found funny is that there is only one anime I ever “dropped”. 99.5% of the time, I watch all the way to the finish, a record I’m proud about. Well okay, I do drop anime if I didn’t like it from its premiere episode, but this is the only instance that I dropped it around the middle. The lucky anime title is none other than [Kakyuusei 2->], the worst anime I have ever seen. Applause!!!

I currently can’t show the actual list of titles because it’s a rough draft. I’ll probably use the data at a later time when I feel the need to properly “database” all the anime I have ever watched. By then bluemist anime statistics may be a full-blown project, so stay tuned. In any case, I can at least show you my personal Top 3 anime from each year, the titles that more or less entertained me to the brim. Not necessarily a best-of list, but these are the ones that I have fond memories of right now. [Ojamajo Doremi->doremi] and its sequels are purposely missing in the list, because it is already in a heavenly level, up there with [Cardcaptor Sakura->sakura]. See? Shoujo is really the best genre EVER!

I’ll return home in the middle of 2007, by then things will start to get normal once again. It’s not as if I hate Japan, I just hate my working schedule. My mission now is to somehow up this graph from my poor 2006 showing of 12 anime titles. I’m off to a good start… err… 2 anime in winter is a good one I guess.
