Sasuke… girl!

Finally! At last!
http://www.minaidehazukashii.com/hinano/2007/03/22/proof-that-sasuke-is-gay/

Whoa! What do we have here? The legendary shounen hit that became a filler-flop is turning back to its manga roots! And can you believe it? I actually said “Naruto rulz!” like all the -tards out there!

Not really, but in fairness Naruto Shippuden/Shipunnden/Shipundden caught my ear with a seemingly stronger array of anime background music. It’s very engaging, if only the pace of the anime could live up to it. As it is, Naruto is still the slowpoke shounen fest that it has always been. And as [always->sasuke-girl]…

Sasuke is still so gay!

Impulse Buying

As you probably know, I’m in Japan. So when I’m in Japan, I want to buy something… anything. But I’m poor. But still, I just can’t resist. So I save some money by not eating sometimes. I lost a lot of weight actually. Don’t worry, I’m joking on the not eating part… I’m not that hardcore…

I have this rather impossible sickness called “impulse buying”, where I buy something I probably won’t even need or treasure later on, but still buy just for the heck of it. If there were a way to resell these stuff to you, my readers, I would gladly, but shipping charges are not cheap. So basically, I’m stuck with these items myself, and someday, it will be JUNK. Yes, TRASH.

Most impulse buys I have ain’t related to anime at all, so I won’t mention some. And of course, I won’t tend to buy too much anime stuff, because I don’t have a hikkomori or otaku room.

This post is a collective of all the “impulse buys” I made during the entirety of my stay here in Japan. Of course, this will update as time progresses, so check it out sometime.

The blogger whose name is written in this note shall…

Burned out. Has a big project at work, so has no time to blog. Said blogger will not die soon, but is currently killing himself in symbolic sort of way. He apologizes for not updating frequently, as life in Japan seems so harsh.

By the way, He’s currently watching NANA now, still wondering if his viewership is being counted in the amazing 4-6% TV ratings of this otherwise late-night anime. He also wonders if the NANA2 movie would even be a success without the old actors around. He watched Miyazaki Aoi’s TV drama and cried a lot at the bittersweet ending. Still crying that she can’t be Hachi again for the sequel.

“Hirano Aya is awesome”, he said. Aside from Reira, she also voices in Death Note and Galaxy Angel II. It’s kinda like her year. Her birthday is October 8 BTW. This blogger will rejoice.

He also watched the first episode of Death Note a while back, and was very pleased. He considers this one of the best shounen series, and is a very definite, definite watch. He now will proceed to read the manga… that is… if he still can, because it’s really going to be tight at work.

He promises to be back again for another post within the week, although it is still highly doubtful. This just proves that there is no such thing as destiny in this world, so some kind of Magical Note can’t exist. He just wishes that there’s some kind of Life Note that would get him out of this mess. Why not the Death Note? He doesn’t want to die soon, of course. In any case, he wishes everyone to enjoy the new anime season.

In about 10 minutes, this blogger will sleep.

October Anime Season (Fall 2006)

This [Japan->bluemist-in-japan] thing is really creating a dramatic shift out of me. These days I find that watching anime seems more like a chore than a charm. See, I had to take note of when it broadcasts on TV, which is more likely than not after midnight. How do otaku manage to watch them so late? Do they have no jobs (NHK?), or do they have video recorders or something? Ah, the hardships of being a casual anime watcher who happens to like otaku-themed anime.

Oh, and as the seasons change, some new targets spring up at Fall 2006. And it feels [all-bishoujo->summer-of-bishoujo] again this season… yay for me (oof so many backlog in there).

Galaxy Angel II – Galaxy Angel was the bishoujo Cowboy Bebop, and I’m so sad that it was over. Hopefully this all-new cast would be as good.

Gift ~Eternal Rainbow~ – This should whet my appetite until the next big D.C. anime comes.

Happiness! – Exactly what I feel.

Love Doll ~Lovely Idol~ – A Princess Soft game conversion.

Kanon – Possibly the best bishoujo game ever made… remade by the ever-l33t Kyoto Animation studio. Take my word for it, this will be beyond [Air->air-tv], beyond [Haruhi->haruhiism-tracker], and beyond any other bishoujo anime that ever existed (my bias on [To Heart->to-heart] is another story).

Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru – Crossdressing + yuri = the ultimate Strawberry Panic. Instant win.

Tokimeki Memorial ~Only Love~ – I never thought I’d see the day. One of the most popular dating sim series of all time is going to have a proper anime series. Now I can know what all the fuss is about.

Yoake Mae Yori Ruri Iro na – A game from the same makers of [Hanihani->hanihani-operation-sanctuary].

And then in my [wishes come true->anime-wish-list] segment:

Negima!? – Yes! Justice! Give justice to the awesome manga that is Negima!

DEATH NOTE – Ah, the catalyst. The only shounen anime in my list. And boy this is as addictive as crack.

July Anime Season (Summer 2006)

That time once again?

I’m keeping my new anime watching at a minimum again. It’s quite a hectic time for me these days. I’m still catching up to [many-a-spring->April Anime Season (Spring 2006)] anime. Add my current penchant for anything Da Capo, I’m sure to give lots more time for gaming than anime.

Speaking of anime though, I wonder if anyone of you noticed this too. It was some anime I anticipated in spring, but all of the sudden it was out of the limelight, and it never aired. My very first case of missing anime:

Where in the world is Finalist?

As for the upcoming summer season, thankfully there are only a few anime that spurred my interest this time, very unlike the massively awesome lineup of spring. And so behold my huge lineup:

Binbou Shimai Monogatari – Anime about poor people = win (remember NieA_7?), because I = poor people.

Tsuyokiss – Tsundere you say? Instant buy! Cool and sweet!

NHK ni Youkoso! – Yet another approach to otakuism just like [Genshiken->] and [Comic Party->] before it. This time, with the topic I like most: bishoujo games.

Chokotto Sister – Something about this intrigues me, so I’ll put it on watch.

I still don’t blog anime episodes, so for more information on these and other anime, please visit our friendly neighborhood anime bloggers and aggregators. That’s it for now.

Animax-Asia… Dubbed in English – Episode 9: Now in blue

June 5, 2006

Trying to please me?

As you can see, Animax-Asia has just done a reformat of both their website and the channel’s presentation graphics. The once green/blue logo has now become all-blue, and the website now sports anime mascots unique to Animax-Asia (Battle Girl and Spiky Kid). The channel now has a new, cooler presentation style for their advertisements and stuff. Does this signify anything? Not exactly, because nothing much has changed. Excellent anime lineup, but in English dubbing. Oh, and there is supposed to be a forum available, but it’s still the good old AXN-Asia forum back when AXN still showed tons of anime.

Ah, I can faintly remember those good old days of AXN anime. Japanese dubs, English subtitles, and a whole lot of fun. I can say that AXN anime played a big role in my fandom, plus it was technically the ‘only’ available channel brave enough to cater to a very small audience (sub lovers like us). But hey, it was monumentally successful I guess, with a handful of AXN anime conventions jampacked with people, and rousing support from anime fans from all across Asia and even the web. AXN anime used to be dubbed in English too, but the reformat to Japanese dubs gave them higher ratings not only from the anime side, but also the rest of the channel lineup.

Unfortunately, that golden age of cable TV anime was over, and with Animax-Asia’s English dubbing, there’s nowhere else to go but down. Even they (the channel) themselves seem to be admitting their defeat, through the advertisements of Fullmetal Alchemist. In the FMA advertisements, they were highlighting the fact that they’ll be showing the original English dub from the U.S. of A. It is as if they’re promoting that this time, they’ll have decent dubs ‘just because’ they have a US dub. This is a showing of desparation. I don’t know if ratings are going up or down, but in terms of mindshare, they’re getting burned. Such a shame, Fullmetal Alchemist is such an influential anime after all. While it seems that it really has good English dubbing (don’t coin me on that, I only saw a few episodes), but heck, where has the support for the sub-lovers gone?

On the local front, support for our very own Hero TV is only getting better… weirdly enough. Maybe it’s a bias thing of course, since Hero TV has anime dubbed in Filipino, our national language. It has a decent lineup too, and has its own share of bad and good dubbing. Still no Japanese dubs though.

Oh, and by the way, the Animax-Asia website seems to have some kind of Anime News section, where some news irrelevant to even Animax-Asia is being published. Some examples include something about Keroro Gunsou, the just-announced Death Note anime, etc. Trying to cater to the audience you abandoned? Sorry.

Your blue theme won’t convince me either.
