Hello there.
It seems like I don’t have a great idea for an April Fools post this year, and I have health and typing issues, so might as well make a roundup. As we all know, the internets will be blowing up with massive trollings and stuff like that, so at least for the animu-related side, let me just highlight some of the good stuff that’s happening today.
Remember: Be safe, be sound, be secure. Don’t be fooled today.
Love Love Live! Announced

YES SEQUEL! Sadly it’s a joke.
Oreimo monorail

This is one fake that you wished were real, and actually feasible considering all the itadenshas that I’ve seen over the years.

Reminds me I haven’t played Bioshock Infinite yet.
Da Capo III Announced!
http://www.hatsunejima.com/
Oh man this is the massive trolling if I ever saw one. If I know better, and I do know because I know a Japanese person who worked at Circus for a while with Princess Party, this DCIII joke is so massive that they’ve made an actual demo of the game and an anime PV short, and if ever the clamor of the fans would go into fever pitch, they have a so-called “emergency budget” to actually build and ship the darned things. The only reason why they’re just making this as a joke is because some fans don’t like the idea of a grown-up Sakura.
Railgun Sequel to be actually renamed to A Certain Scientific Datacenter
http://sakuraha-ai.sakura.ne.jp/2013/
Fake because there will never be a sequel to Railgun.
Apple iMat announced

Key/Visual Arts filed bankruptcy

I blame J.C. Staff. This is the end of bishoujo gaming as we know it, as one of the great pillars is about to close shop. Thanks for all the memories and lots of crying girls in snow, spring, summer and fall.
ghostlightning says he’s returning to blogging
Welcome back WRLOLOLOL! This is awesome if only it were true. Thanks for the chuckle. But seriously man.
Where is shinn87?

Not sure, but he apparently texted me and said that I died in another dimension. This is obviously fake, because I know the real shinn can troll better than this.
Random Curiosity’s Fake Spring 2013 Anime List

Apparently he already saved the me in the other dimension. Riiiiight.
Since this is more or less confirmed already, might as well say it.
I’m going to Japan. [Again->project-japan].
It will only be under a week this time, I’m just going back there as a tourist. But I’m treating it as some sort of a major event. I left so many [unfinished business->project-japan-end-2007] and, er… [emotional baggage->dear-kagami] over there during my whole year of stay back in 2006-2007. It’s been quite a while since then, and so I wonder if I’ll gain anything, or learn anything, from this possibly rare opportunity. It could be nothing more than a vacation trip. Or it could be a pivotal moment of my life.
I’ll be going there with friends, so I’m kinda limited to the survival strategy schedule that we had planned as a group. This trip will be sightseeing, not otaku-trekking, like some part of me would have wanted it to be. In fact, Akihabara schedule time is only 4-5 hours – that’s horribly short if you want to see and buy tech stuff, much less if you want animu stuff instead. Thankfully, we’ll go to places I haven’t gone to during my one-year stint, like temples. I’ll discover new things about Japan again, so… let’s photo! ãªã®ã§ã€‚。。
(Tamayura probably won’t appear for digital cameras)
It will be a trip of nostalgia. I will visit my friends and acquaintances. I will visit my old office. I will visit the places I’ve been to. I will try to relive that life I had, all over again. It’s because of that year that I have continual vested interest in anime, games, music, and many other aspects of Japanese culture. Not only just that, it’s because of that year that I have grown up (a bit) as a person. I learned to cook. I learned to live (almost) independently in an apartment. I started my work there and learned how to approach my career path. I also learned how to lov—— (enough about that). Even just for a year, my life in Japan was one of the most colorful. The experiences I had there defined me, and continues to define me even to this day. The good times, the bad times, even the uneventful times, they all became a part of me.
If there were a chance to do it all over again, I will have to take the peek through this little vacation trip of mine. There are things that I want to [improve on->losing-japanese]. There are things I want to [think about how to be->naritai-jibun]. There are things I want to [reevaluate->blue-bird]. My life still has the next phase or two ahead, and I want to know if I’m on the right track. But more than reliving the past or looking into the future, I want to enjoy the present moment as much as I can.
Hmm, I’ve been churning out embarrassing remarks that shouldn’t be allowed, so let me rephrase it this way: WHO CARES ABOUT MELANCHOLY AND REMINISCING… I’M GOING BACK TO JAPAN YEAAAAAAAAA~!! I should be there during the week of BD release for the second movie of Macross Frontier, and (sadly) before the release of THE IDOLM@STER 2 game for the PS3, so I’m sure Akiba would be filled with posters of those. Not as if I’m going to buy either. Suggestions would be welcome on what kind of simple animu stuff to buy – I am honestly not a merchandise collector so I’m not too big on those things. I would definitely get a Vocaloid album or two, I already have a DECO*27 so my targets are doriko and 40mP albums, or maybe a Miku/Gumi compilation. In terms of tech I’m still on the ropes about a 3D/120Hz PC monitor, which should bring the absolute smoothness to my computing and gaming visuals. Remind me not to go overboard because I barely have tens of thousands of yen to spend. Train fares will be a particular pain. Oh how much has changed. When I was in Japan I could barely think about how train fares cost, nor “where I was going” (lol I went to random places by train back then).
Anyway, one more time, one more chance. This is it. My body is ready, and I’m lady. This is me, signing off for now, and hoping to have the best trip of my life so far. Japan, welcome me back. ãŸã ã„ã¾ã€‚
Our thoughts and prayers go to my friends, colleagues, and everyone in Japan. Please keep safe wherever you are.

Sorry, this is not so much about Madoka Magica, let’s just say that I can relate with the anime depicting a deconstruction of what it takes to be a magical girl in the magical girl genre of anime. In the first article I compared myself to Amu-chan (Shugo Chara), a magical girl with multiple personality issues, as a reflection of my life at that point when I had to decide which path to take in life. And so here I am today, trying to reflect on my decisions from that point in the past, and what the reality looks like at present..

If I would remember 2007 in anime terms, it is definitely the year when the legend of fan-based content finally entered my consciousness. I know, stuff made by fans (doujinshi, doujin games, etc.) have been around even before the first Comiket, but never has it exploded as much as today. I would mostly blame the internet for that, as with many other things related with such an easy way to connect with other people. Because it’s related to computers though, the term “doujin” would have changed for me. A few years ago, I would consider the majority of doujin as either manga drawn by fans for fans, or programmed games by fans for fans. In 2007, “doujin” now encapsulates almost every form of media ever created. Music, accessories, video… you name it… the fans got it.

I’m surprised that I did better than I thought I would. I’m really positive about the result, but I should leave it be and move on to other things before crossing my fingers for the results (still 3-4 months away).
Granted JLPT Level 4 (that’s what I took) is nothing compared to many other people around, but hey it’s a headstart. Anything to justify my 5% knowledge of the language… who knows, can I proclaim 10% now?
I bet a lot of you took the exams too in your part of the world, and so I bid “good luck” to us all!
Everything is on hold because I’m “pretending” to study for the JLPT. I’m destined for failure though, so please just comment to pity me on this page. I’ll be crying for the rest of the year, so I don’t think I’ll blog again until next year.
I bid everyone goodbye, again, for now. Thanks for all the support… if there ever was.
A bit of a shocker in the news a few days ago when Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe resigns from the post. Pretty bold move for a head of the one of the most powerful nations of the world. I really am astounded that this country runs on integrity of leadership for the people, everytime a leader loses face and support of his constituents one would be willing to commit political suicide for the sake of the country. I went to Japan last year as he rose to power, and resigned as I left eh? I even saw him in person really, campaigning or something in a speech held in a shopping district. I have no pics though so it didn’t happen I guess.
Well Abe is in the hospital for now, and as I read news articles, some interesting name shows up… Taro Aso. Huh? Rozen Aso? He seems to be a prime candidate for taking the helm. This should be interesting.
While I don’t think that he would transform Japan into Akihabara Country it would be interesting for us foreigners to see what kind of otaku-related legislation he would make (did he do something as Foreign Minister anyway?). Maybe promote moar moe~ overseas? Count me in for the cry for cheaper hobby goods that come out of the country. I’m betting he would spread the manga lovin first though, so all you manga lovers brace yourselves.
Don’t get your hopes up though, Aso may not even win. I’m not too keen on Japanese politics but if a PM can resign on a whim situations can be as volatile as a climax of a manga arc.
On the other hand, if government offices start hiring maids wearing gothloli Rozen Maiden-like outfits I would be pleasantly surprised. Sound impossible? Remember this is Japan, anything goes.
UPDATE: He lost though.
