Ooh, sequel to Shaider… NOT!

Frankly, I don’t know what to think anymore. What’s this? Amateur cosplay session? Heck I know better cosplay than your freaking cardboard outfits. And why is M. Bison there lol. Did your Sailormoon zerox become successful? I kinda thought it would come to this. By this time all those dramas I mentioned are over. Well that’s a short one. Did they break new ground? Were they popular? Dunno. I don’t see Lupin action figures that look like the actor. Heck I don’t see anyone selling sailor fuku. Would have been convenient for quick cosplay for girls. Heck I would have “worn” one for the fun of it… I kid I kid.
And now this, trying to hope that your show will be an official sequel to some old Japanese property… I’m betting some Japanese TV comedy show is gonna have a laugh at you when they get this footage. I don’t know if you can even match Japan’s special effects… of the freaking 1980’s. Quoting one of our famous movies: “You’re nothing but a second-rate, trying hard… copycat!”
I got a lot of hate on the [previous post->gma-telebabad-2007] telling me I’m too harsh or something like that. Well folks, why should I hate on my own country? I love Philippine entertainment… but there are limits. When our creativity is slowly crapping out on us, I’m starting to cry out loud in despair. Why copy? We can be creative. Look for instance, some folks are reviving our comics industry… betcha don’t know that? Maybe you’re too glued on TV to know. This ridiculous TV show is an example of our entertainment industry either running out of ideas, trying to bank on the success of an international property we don’t even own (that Marimar thing is another example), or just plain for ridiculousness sake.
And yet maybe these kinds of copy-shows sell. I’m not sure, I don’t watch GMA for this. I can find a thousand more television shows better than this. Sorry I don’t fit in their target market… and yet I’m supposed to be. I grew up with those metal hero, sentai and other tokusatsu shows. I enjoyed it as a kid. I’m grateful that the new kids can enjoy what I enjoyed back then, but please, PLEASE do a good job at it. We’re slowly becoming a laughing stock everytime we copy stuff. And next time, please do something compelling, creative and unique.
As long as you continue this kind of status quo and don’t give your shots at entertainment greatness, people will always turn to other avenues (Japan, US and others) for their entertainment.
I’m pretty sure this was a fully sanctioned spinoff – Wikipedia states that Toei rejected a remake script and instead allowed them to film a sort of continuation.
That said, I never watched a lick of Philippine TV for the 16 years that I was there – the little I saw I hated.
So it’s been sanctioned, eh. Whatever it may be… it will be the biggest recorded cosplay project ever in Pinoy TV. Even beating (ugh) Super Twins…

I’m pretty sure it sells well with the masses. These shows are “pang-masa” that targets the large part of the population that don’t give a damn about content and rather base it on “who” is in it that “what” is it.
This is the reason why I don’t watch our local TV – they even fail at adapting.
Yup, they are running out of ideas, thus turning to international, well-known hits (oh hey look there’s Zorro, lol wait wrong channel) for the formula to success. :V
Right now, as I saw the Zaido image on GMA’s scheduled shows for this month, as well as for the next, I am crying in despair. T_T
To add to what I have said earlier, they are good at deceiving the common people into thinking that that is original material where in fact it is really not.

Well… you can’t really blame the local people for this. I mean, compare the number of people who has access to international shows and those that haven’t. The ratio is 85:15. So the company took “advantage” of the situation.
Still, it is unethical and demoralizing to just copy others work. >_
Toei allowed this show to be produced and its not a ripoff like Super Twins but don’t expect too much on the quality of the costumes and stories cause you’ll be sad..

omg i hate gma XD they are trying hard because of that they are killing good shows XD to bad they allowed gma to make a continuation for the series XD. damn gma is trying everything to make money XD it pisses me so much coz they cant even make a good series and will do anything even with bad special effects and actors just to sell their stuff . i hate them well the phil. can make good special effects but they just rush stuff up. thats why they cant make it look good . if they just give more time in special effects and forget about the cost instead they can make our country proud and well be know for originality instead of bein copy cats XD

What our local networks don’t realize (or maybe they do, but it’s all about the money anywayz) is that it’s not the costumes, magic, physical attributes that makes or breaks an anime/manga (ugh even sentai) show. In the end, it’s back to the basics. If you have a good story, the settings won’t really matter that much. Although you will only be able to capture a set audience if you go for something like a slow-paced slice-of-life story.
and yeah, gma riding on the anime bandwagon is total fail.
