To Heart 2: Episode 6

Sixth episode!

ruu~!

[Game->toheart2-lucy-maria-misora] – Lucy events
Lucy a.k.a. Ruuko’s episode was quite interesting considering how the anime was set up to be thematic rather than chronological. We already saw Ruuko in [episode 3->https://web.archive.org/web/0im_/http://bluemist.animeblogger.net/images/toheart2/ep3%20(16).jpg], and her crop circles in [episode 5->https://web.archive.org/web/0im_/http://bluemist.animeblogger.net/images/toheart2/ep5%20(18).jpg]. It’s like mysteries getting solved one by one. Not that it’s really that mysterious though, but the way it adds up in your mind makes the whole series quite coherent.

To Heart 2: Episode 5

Fifth episode!

Tamago-sand get-to!

[Game->toheart2-karin-sasamori] – Karin events
I have a special affinity to Karin, who is probably the least popular To Heart 2 girl of all. That is because after completing Konomi, I finished Karin afterwards. That, and maybe because I love eating fried eggs for breakfast. Karin loves egg sandwiches.

To Heart 2: Episode 4

Fourth episode!

kore de kata to omou nai yo! (don’t think you have won!)

[Game->toheart2-yuma-tonami] – Yuma events
This episode took a lot of liberties over the actual events in the game. Come to think of it, Manaka’s [episode->To Heart 2: Episode 3] was also quite different from the [game->toheart2-manaka-komaki]. If this goes on to be just a 13-episode anime, you most likely won’t see Ikuno (Manaka’s sister) and Yuma the meganekko version. Also, the way their scenarios are converted into anime, it feels more lighthearted rather than melodramatic. No confusing nor lonely stories.

To Heart 2: Episode 3

Third episode!

Iincho!

[Game->toheart2-manaka-komaki] – Manaka events
Maybe I should take those animation quirks as a fact of life already. Actually, I didn’t notice them until when I replayed for screencaps. In any case, this episode cleared out a bit of confusion I had when I played Manaka’s scenario in the game. I would also like to thank solgae for the many corrective comments in my [To Heart 2->] project. Please do read solgae’s comments on each character for the corrections.

To Heart 2: Episode 2

Second episode!

Geh, more animation quirks. Some good shots, but some inconsistent character animation. Nevertheless, the [Tamaki->toheart2-tamaki-kousaka] episode is a healthy mix of Tamaki goodness. While I don’t share the enthusiasm of the legions of Tamaki fans, they may agree that the average animation took out some of the brilliance of an otherwise great episode. Now I get it… they want us to buy the DVD! It’ll be expected that the animation will be a lot more refined on the DVD. What a clever marketing move… although nothing may be more clever than them doing a [To Heart 2: XRATED->toheart2-xrated] (evil grin)…

To Heart 2: Episode 1

First episode!

This is one of the rare times that I will pick substance over style. I didn’t care too much about the animation quirks, because the pace of this anime is rather good. Also, the anime would seem to be treating the girls as the main focus rather than the guy. So having this from the girls’ point of view, more character development may be seen as a result. Yes, it’s like going back to the original [To Heart->] style, nice.

Project Hiatus

Ok, this is it.

Goodbye for 1 month and a half!

Because of studies, I have to be virtually inaccessible until halfway through November. Don’t worry, I’ll try to catch up on stuff afterwards, so please do visit me again by that time.

There’s a catch. Well, this is a maybe, a BIG maybe, but you may see “surprise posts” from me within my hiatus period! It’s most probable especially for the To Heart 2 anime coverage. Don’t count on it or expect it, but it is still possible. For now, if anyone will be watching the anime I think you’ll find my [To Heart 2->] gameplaying project an interesting cross-reference.

Thanks for all the visits, revisits, and support so far, and I hope to see you again in 6 weeks. So for now, goodbye!

Here we go! First look at the animation in action, and…

It’s not an impressive preview! [Konomi->konomi-cameo] in [Comic Party Revolution->] looked a bit more refined. Nevertheless, I don’t want to [remember my bad memories->to-heart-remember-my-memories], and neither would [Aquaplus->leaf-aquaplus], so I’m still hopeful that this will turn out nice overall.

Okay, so we won’t get the original [game->toheart2] opening sequence and song. Instead, this song called Hello by Haruna Ikeda (also the one who sang the To Heart RMM ED) will be the OP theme. Konomi is mostly the one talking in the preview, while Tamaki spoke a line or two in the background. The preview also looks like it will cover Konomi’s [introduction->To Heart 2 Review (Part 1)] and her story of dealing with graduation from [junior high->To Heart 2 Review (Part 2)].

So that’s it for now. To Heart 2 premiers this October. Hope you’ll watch it.

To Heart 2: XRATED

and i thought it can only go borderline fanservice…

To Heart 2: XRATED

To Heart 2: XRATED is essentially the same game as the original To Heart 2 for the PS2, except that new scenes and features were added. You could still refer to my [To Heart 2->] project for details on each character, since nothing much has changed on each of their stories.

What has changed? If the word XRATED still didn’t give you a tip, I don’t know what will. Yes folks… in a seemingly different (but not so) move, a bishoujo game has turned from all-age to adult! Usually, when an adult-rated bishoujo game gets popular enough, it would be converted to all-age, cleaned-up versions on a console. To Heart 2: XRATED is the extreme reversal of that system. But since another major games maker ([Key->]) has also done that recently (non-ero game Clannad having an ero-game sidestory called Tomoyo After), I wonder if it’s going to be a trend. Reportedly, TH2X is becoming a success on its move to… er… adulthood.

THE SPECIFICS
– The entire game in 800×600 glory (higher resolution than the PS2 version… not that it matters much.)
– Added H scenes for all characters.
– Some CG additions to Karin, the Himeyuri twins, and the first Ilfa CG. (semi-H)
– New character scenario (Sasara Kusugawa), also comes with new CG and background music of course.
– Two minigames.

NEW CHARACTER
image
The new character that is introduced in To Heart 2: XRATED is named Sasara Kusugawa. She is the student council president, and is one schoolyear level higher than the male lead. More details to come when I finish playing her scenario. It’s kinda long by the way.

MINIGAMES
Super Sweets Scramble
imageimageimage
This one is a vertical-scrolling shooting game. You shoot cakes, chocolates, candies, and all kinds of sweets! There is a 3 or 6 minute timelimit, and you collect powerups for shooting upgrades. It’s quite fun while it lasts, and I recommend trying out all the various characters. Each of them have unique ability powerups, and some are so powerful it’s crazy.

Doki-Doki Panic Library
imageimageimage
This one is a puzzle game. The object of the game is to arrange books of the same color using your character to interchange each book. Once 3 or more books of the same color are near each other, it disappears tetris-style and you score points. Some special books are there too. There are many game options including a vs. mode.

To Heart 2: Sango and Ruri Himeyuri

Generic disclaimer: Same basic rules apply as in my [To Heart 2->toheart2] project. Please do comment or contact me in case I have mistakes in describing each girl’s scenario.

Playing this scenario went off smoothly as well. The HMX maid robot stuff was incomprehensible to me though, but generally since this story is about the Himeyuri twins, it doesn’t get too much focus. It’s rather nice that some predominant To Heart references like Kurusugawa Electronics and HMX-12 come into play. And so without further delay…
